Children and lupus
There was a time when lupus was considered to be much stern in children rather than adults but this is no longer true, now the doctors do not go by such belief. Children are also very susceptible to lupus but mostly lupus and related disorders mostly affects the teens. There are many children who have been diagnosed for lupus. There are chances if children have these symptoms of lupus for a very long time then there are chances that these might develop internal organ disorder. This is more frequent than adults because of the weakness of immune system then the time of diagnosis of disease takes much time in children than adults. This is the reason why aggressive therapy is given to a child who is diagnosed with lupus.
People who suffer from lupus have a less active day to day lifestyle than people are not suffering from such disorders. This is due to the effects this disease cause on the person’s body.
The first step to get the best treatment is to get proper diagnosis from a doctor and see what the type of disorder that is caused is. There might be a few symptoms so there is a proper direction in which the treatment or the diagnosis can go. There are chances of the obvious diseases such as the kidney disorders, fevers, skin rashes and the general feeling of not being well these are some of the common symptoms of this disorder. There are chances that these children might look fine but they may have blood in their urine; there can be other problems too like the psychiatric tension due to these symptoms. A better treatment and diagnosis from a physician is necessary. There are diagnosis done like the test of ANA, but it is not the case that only children having positive ANA suffer from lupus there are children that don’t show lupus but still have positive ANA.
According to the American College of Rheumatology the diagnosis must be dependent on the symptoms and children showing these symptoms must be given proper care as soon as possible.
At times the parents get worried if their child is diagnosed with lupus. Lupus may seem life threatening but the fact is there are many children who despite of suffering from lupus live a normal life. The timely diagnosis and can save the spread of this disorder to organs in the child. Arthritis and rashes are controllable and they can be easily known about the outcomes in long run they have on children, here is where lupus is quite different but you just have to keep a tab on the body changes and rest is in our hands
