Discoid lupus
This is a primary disorder that mainly affects the skin of an individual; it is basically a chronic and a recurring disorder which can easily be characterized by the sharp circumscribed macules or plaques which display erythema. Even follicular plugging, telangiectasia, atrophy and scales are also one of the distinct features of this disorder. The basic cause of discoid lupus is still unknown. The DLE or the discoid lupus erythematosus is more common in women than men and mostly occur in women of age around 30s.
Discoid lupus primary affects a person’s skin, the condition of discoid lupus needs proper and early treatment if not given on time the condition can become systemic and thus cause serious skin disorders. These can be rashes on scalp, face and even other body parts. There might be skin lesions that might thicken at times as the treatment is not given on time the severity of the skin infection increases thus causing lesions. The skin infection caused can also involve blistering or scaling, these infection might go away with treatment but has the tendency to recur.
There are physical examinations that are done to identify or diagnose the discoid lupus in a person. There are samples of skin that are taken along to get the laboratory analyzing the skin to get a clearer picture of what kind of infection is the person suffering from. There are proper blood tests that are done and even if they reveal any dysfunction in the person’s immune system or skin there is proper treatment method that is followed afterwards. There are a few symptoms that are mostly generated in the discoid lupus and needs proper care. Some times even exposure of sunlight should also be avoided so as to protect oneself from lupus or skin infections.
There is another lupus known as the systemic lupus erythematosus this can also cause diseases such as tuberculosis, gastrointestinal disorders or even pneumonia. There can be nervous diseases too.
